Lorem ipsum is placeholder text for layouts and mock-ups. Everything runs in your browser; nothing you choose is sent or stored.

How it works

The text is built in your browser from 63 words taken from the classic Lorem Ipsum passage, which is public domain text by Cicero (45 BC). Each sentence has 8 to 16 words, starts with a capital letter and ends with a full stop. Each paragraph has 4 to 7 sentences, and paragraphs are separated by a blank line.

Paragraphs mode gives the number of paragraphs you ask for. Sentences mode gives that number of sentences, grouped into paragraphs. Words mode gives that number of words, and the last sentence is shortened to reach the exact count, so it still ends with a full stop.

The text is generated from a fixed sequence of numbers, not a random one. The same mode, count and start option always give the same text, so you can come back to the settings and get the same result.

The classic start option makes the first sentence "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet consectetur adipiscing elit.", the familiar opening of the passage.
